Oh Dear

Hello again.

I couldn't write yesterday because, for some reason or other, the computer kept freezing up. There wasn't much to write about anyway. A few days ago I finished Joan of Arc. Today was relatively quiet, I did my schoolwork, chores, and made dinner. Soon I have to go to church. I have lately been looking up Grace O'Malley. I have a report due on her in two weeks, you see.
I feel guilty about not having put a poem up in so long, so here is one of my early poems.

Warriors

Soldiers fight for the people,
They march in battles and wars,
They come home honored veterans,
By the people they are adored.

Christians fight together,
They march as one for the Lord,
No one speaks of them as veterans,
But still, by the Lord, they're adored.

Both kinds of warriors are special,
For the people and for the Lord,
The people honor the soldiers,
And the Christians honor the Lord.

Thunderstorms

Flashing, crashing, booming, rolling,

Mighty bells of thunder tolling,

Coming, conquering, not here for long,

Rain beating earth like a golden gong,

Mashing, slashing, wet teeth knashing,

Rain beating earth, the soaked ground it's lashing,

Bashing, clashing, finally passing,

Rain leaving earth, forward it's dashing.

Dark clouds clearing,

Lightning tears no more,

The rain did win the battle,

The sunlight won the war.

A Sunday Afternoon

Hello again.

I'm so sorry I didn't write yesterday, I didn't have time before bed you see. Just to let you know, my recital went really well. I played The Chorus from "Judas Maccabeus", Road to Boston, Devil's Dream, and the Swallowtail Jig which I played with my teacher and her husband. Today nothing of note happened. After Mom and I finished delivering the three-part Sunday paper (which was extremely heavy, and made my fingers cramp because it was so big around) we came home and got some sleep. We had finished early, so we did get to have some extra sleep. After church we came home and had lunch. Then I did my chores and made banana pudding. Next Mom and I made cards. Dad came home, and we watched a movie. We had dinner, then dessert, and now I am writing this. Yesterday, however, there was a huge thunderstorm! It was raining really hard, and lighting and thunder abounded. I sat out on the back porch awhile (it's covered), but then I had to go clean up the kitchen. I wrote a poem about it, which I will include tomorrow, as I don't have it with me right now. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Saturday

Hello again.

Right now I'm just writing here, trying to pass the time before my recital. I have to be there at 1:30pm, and I'm already dressed so I don't have much to do. I will write later on how it went. Wish me luck!

A Typical Day

Hello again.

Today was really not that exciting. After I got up, I did some housework. Then after awhile Mom took me to violin lessons. I have a recital tomorrow, and my teacher, her husband, and I are playing a song together. I am really excited. I just finished cleaning up from dinner. We had dinner early because I have a meeting tonight for a homeschool newsletter I write for. As I have told you before, I love horses. So I couldn't resist when I found this picture of an Arabian mare on the internet. Arabians are (suprise, suprise) fram Arabia, and tend to be more highstrung than other breeds. well, I have to go now.

A Honey of a Day (Sort of)

Hello again.

In a minute I will explain my odd title to you, but let's proceed in chronological order shall we? This morning was nothing much to tell about, I basically did my school work all morning. Then Mom took Thing2 to the doctor. He has strep throat. So in the morning I will do papers again. Oh well, I can listen to my music in the car. When Dad came home from work, I went to the store with Mom. While we were gone (okay, get ready) A friend of my parents came and dropped off a bee hive. You see, my Dad wants to raise bees. My Mom doesn't mind, and Thing2 is can practically contain his excitement. I, on the other hand, am not so excited. I am afraid of bees. With all their buzzing and flying around, not to mention their very dangerous stingers, they make me nervous. I'm not exactly sure how to handle all this, so I'll just try my best. Dad showed Mom and I the hive though, it's pretty cool looking. Except for the dead bees in one part. Anyway, remember the schoolbooks I told you about? I found this really cool book in the store today (By one of my favorite authors) about Robin Hood. I love books about Robin Hood, knights, and medieval days. Mom says if I finish my schoolbooks this week, I can get it. So good-bye for now, I'm off to read Joan of Arc!

An Early Start

Good morning!

Since I know I won't have time this evening, I decided to do my writing early today. This morning (alas and alack, no pancakes) I had toast and a grapefruit for breakfast. Thing2 is sick, so he gets out of schoolwork today. I still have to do my schoolwork, so I can't stay long. Since I don't know what I am going to get done today, I will just tell you what I hope to get done. I need to do my schoolwork, ride my bike (I'm not giving up so easily!), hopefully finish A Taste of Chaucer, and this evening my youth group goes on an outing. I think we're having a cook-out. Yay! The weather finally cleared up, so it will be a good night for that. This is a picture of early morning. It's not exactly early morning any more, but it's still morning. Just barely.Anyway, have a nice day!

Today is Tuesday...

Hello again.

as you probably already know, today is Tuesday. My family and I got alot accomplished today. I would definitely count this as a really good day. This morning we had pancakes for breakfast. I love pancakes, and Mom makes the best pancakes ever! They're all light and fluffy...is your mouth watering yet? Anyway, after our breakfast of wonderful pancakes, Thing2 and I did our schoolwork. Mom went shopping (old mother hubbard would have been proud of us) and then we carried all the groceries in. Thing2 has been sick this week, so I went out to ride my bike alone. Wouldn't you know it? I crashed. I was turning and I cut the wheel too sharp and... You can probably guess the rest. It turns out that it was only really my knee that got scraped up though (I happened to be wearing shorts). So I bandaged it up, and after Dad came home I made spaggetti for dinner. Mom got ice cream at the store, so we get a treat tonight! Yay! Now I am sitting here writing, which is usually how I end my posts, since that happens to be the last thing I was doing. And still am doing. You know what I mean. Oh, and it's still very cloudy.

Wandering

My heart's wandering far away,
Hoping for a brighter day,
Through this world and trials long,
On I march, I sing Christ's song,
Past darkness and through valleys deep,
Through suffering Christ my heart will keep,
This my prayer throughout the day,
"Lord keep my heart, don't let it stray,"
My hearts wandering on away,
But still in Christ my hope will stay.

Another Monday (Oh Joy)

Hello again.

I hope you liked my essay. Well, it's been another long, hard, rainy Monday.

This morning I had drama (I'm in a play) at 10:00. This was our last week to use the script, so I need to have it memorized by next week. It stopped raining for awhile this afternoon, and I was able to ride my bike. After I had done my schoolwork of course, can't forget that. I can ride through puddles now! You may not think that's a big deal, but puddles need holes (or at least dips) to collect in and you never know how deep they're going to be. I need a chain guard though, I ripped a hole in my jeans on the chain. I have just put a load of clothes away, and am writing here. For dinner we are going to have a chicken (Mom's going to roast it in the oven) and I don't know, something for a side dish. I am sooooo swamped with reading! I have to read by the end of the month: Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, A Taste of Chaucer, and Hamlet. Pretty thick books, and I haven't even started the one on Chaucer! I am also reading Watership Down (by Richard Adams) but that's so my head doesn't explode from school books. Well, I have to go.

A Forest Trail

The sun filtered gently through the tall trees, tinting the light a soft green. The air was warm, and a light breeze made it's way among the trees. The leaves, now in the full glory of summer, whispered their greeting as it went by.
It seemed as if time had stopped in the old forest. The only moving things were the graceful butterfies flitting in and out of th shafts of pure sunlight that were spot-lighting the undergrowth.Sometimes the spears of light landed on the tree trunks, illuminating the moss that had grown there for years.
A small, well worn path wound through the forest and on out of sight. Instead of an intrusion, the path seemed more an old friend . One who had come to visit and had not as yet left.
Up near the bend in the trail there was a rotted tree, whose prime years had passed long ago. The tree still stood however, providing a home for the birds. Even now they flitted in and out, going about their work with a song on their hearts, and on their toungues. It was not only the residents of the rotted tree who were joyful though. In all the forest it seemed there was not a bird that was silent.
Directly past the bend in the trailsomeone had built a bridge. It was not a very large bridge, but it fit perfectly into it's surroundings. I was curved into a small arch, with handrails on either side. Someone had once painted it red, but the paint was now faded and chipping. The bridge itself, however, was in good repair. A woodcutter often used it, and not a nail was out of place.
Underneath the bridge, and in fact the very reason for it's existencem ran a small stream. It's clear water gurgled along, tumbling over the smooth, moss-covered rocks.

A Quick Note

Well, I finally got around to posting that descriptive essay,
so I hope you like it. It has been raining for awhile now. I thought you would like the picture.

Satisfaction

Good evening.

Today was exciting, busy, and well worth the sweat.

This morning we did some work around the house. You know, now that the weather is warmer (I hope for good) you have to go through all th summer clothes and pack the winter ones away. That's what we did this morning. Then we cleaned off the back porch. Next we ( meaning Thing2 and I) went and took our bikes down to the street. Mom and Dad sat on the front porch for awhile, until they decided our bike tires needed air. After that they said the bike I was riding was too small for me (It was a trick bike) so they got out Thing1's bike that he doesn't use anymore and let me ride it. It was alot more comfortable. Then, wonder of wonders, I rode around the block for the very first time. I had to walk it twice (Our neighberhood is very hilly) and got scared out of my wits by cars, but it was worth it. After that we came in and got something to eat while we watched a movie. We went back outside after that. Oh, I forgot to mention that my dad came down with us the first time. So we went back outside after the movie and rode around the block a different way. Coming home we had to go down a big hill. Thank you so much Dad for riding beside me and encouraging me. Not to mention it started raining when we were coming back. So now I am here writing this. I don't have any poems for you though, sorry.

The Begining of the End (of the week)

Hello.

Today is Friday, the begining of the end of the week. It's been a busy day, cleaning and work around the house you know. Tonight I am going to on one of my best friends birthday party. That's why I am writing a little early. But nothing much has happened, so I really don't know what to write. I love horses, in case your wondering what the picture has to do with anything. I like drawing them, taking pictres of them, anything to do with horses. I didn't do that picture however, I found it on the internet, Very useful thing. Since there's nothing else to write I shall stop now.

A Journey

As I went upon my way,
Weary feet begining to stray,
Dark clouds looming overhead,
Dreaming of hearth and home and bed,
A pinprick of light I did see,
But I thought my eyes did decieve me,
For all around the darkness loomed,
Weighing on me like one who was doomed,
But after a time the light grew stronger,
Pleading my feet and my hope to last longer,
For through many trials I had come,
Until my heart with grief was numb,
But finally the light spread gently o'er me,
And there was my Jesus, waiting for me.

Molly

Back Again

Hello again.

Sorry I didn't write yesterday, but it was a busy day. I was
very excited yesterday, I have taught myself how to ride a bike.
I know your thinking: "Wait, she couldn't ride a bike?"
I know. But I have a terrible fear of falling. Anyway, yesterday
I finally succeeded. Today was also busy, though not quite as much.
There was nothing much to note all day, until finally dinner arrived.
I was making macaroni and cheese. I was draining the noodles when,
drat my clumsiness, I poured boiling water on my foot. Yes, it hurt very much.
So now I have three burn blisters on my right foot. On a lighter note, at least
dinner was easy to clean up! That's all for now.

A Waterfall Picture

My Tuesday

Hello again.
Today was a typical Tuesday. We got up this morning, and Thing2 and I did our schoolwork while Mom ran errands. Yesterday in English I wrote a descriptive composition. I will try to post it tomorrow. Soon after Mom came back we had lunch. Then Mom and Thing2 went with me to violin practice. I got a new song, an Irish/Scottish fiddle tune called "Soldier's Joy". It is very upbeat, and I hope I can play it as fast as my teacher. I started violin when I was 4, but I had to stop for a few years, and started back up last year. I like playing fiddle music best. Then we came home. Dad arrived, and took Thing2 to piano practice. After they came back we had dinner. It was garlic chicken and rice, with a salad on the side. I have cleaned up the kitchen, and now I'm writing here. So to wrap up, here once again (I hope you don't mind) is a poem that I thought was appropriate since the seasons are changing.
The Seasons
Spring is a beautiful time of year,
When Robins in the green trees sing,
In the meadows play the deer,
Warm Spring days are full of cheer.
Spring is a beautiful time of year.
Summer is a wonderful time of year,
When frogs by the pondside croak,
And bears their paws in beehives poke,
Hot summer days are full of fun,
Summer is wonderful for everyone.
Fall is a lovely time of year,
When the leaves turn colors,
The air is clear,
And lakes serve as the mountain's mirrors,
Fall is a lovely time of year.
Winter is a gorgeous time of year,
When crisp, white snow falls from the sky,
The wind so cold will make you tear,
And cardinals in your window peer,
Winter is a gorgeous time of year.

Mondays, what can you say?

Hello everyone, it's been another wonderful Monday.
Perhaps I was exaggerating a bit. How about "It's been
another cold Monday." Yes, that works nicely. And how true is that?
It's very annoying when the weather teases you, don't you think? I mean, only a few
days ago I was seriously thinking about finding my shorts, and now I'm digging for my sweater. Quite dissapointing, although I must say, if this is only spring, how hot will summer get? One can only hope we won't need heat shields. Anyway, today my day started with drama (Mom had to get me up because I forgot to set my alarm clock, wonderful things, Mothers are, thanks Mom). I am in a play, and it's going to be difficult because it's a very funny play. If we're laughing so hard we can't even say our lines...oh Orion. You know sometimes I think my cat must have no brains at all. He has been chewing on a blanket my Mom used to cover her quilt, and just now he dragged out of the sewing room into my parents bedroom all the way across the stairwell. Here's an attatchment from him: "Oh, well, um, you saw that? Ah yes, just practicing my hunting skills, got to keep the old claws sharp you know! Well the back ones at least..." He is declawed you know. Well as I was saying, we went by the library on the way home and picked up some books of ours. Then we came home and had lunch, I did my school work, Dad cam home from work, and *takes a breath* Mom and I made supper. Phew. And now, as you can tell, I'm writing on my blog. Fun day. Here's a poem I wrote awhile back:

Beauty from on High

Grass on the dunes,
Fish in the sea,
Birds in the air,
Wind in the trees,
Clouds in the sky,
Sheep in the fields,
Deer in the forest,
Rocky outcliffs that shield,
Dewdrops on grass,
Bees in the flowers,
Rain on the window,
Roses on bowers,
Reeds in a pond,
White-caps on oceans,
Gurgling streams,
Oh what a notion!
God made these things,
For you and for I,
In hopes that we'd see,
The beauty from on High.

A note from Orion Wittifrid

Well hello again, old beans!

I just wanted to let you know about the past couple of days.
Of course you've heard it from Molly, but
sometimes human's descriptions can be rather dull...
Anyway, as you know they went to pick up Thing1 on Friday.
Of course they left me home, as Molly has not yet procured a leash so
I can keep track of her. I don't mind being alone, in fact,
I rather enjoy it. Finally, however, they came home at the end of the
day. And what did they bring with them, but a dog! It seems
they volunteered to babysit the youth paster's dog while he and his family
were gone. So for the past couple of days I have been stuck in the basement while the dog gets my spot. It's downright disgraceful I tell you! But no matter, I can still do one thing the dog cannot. Write on this blog. And so ends another week-end in the chronicles of Wittifrid...

A Few Odds and Ends

Well, the day is done, and what a long day it was!
As you already knew, I had cold pizza for breakfast. Then my mother
(who does sewing for people) had someone drop something off (or pick something up, I'm not quite sure). We did a little work around the house,
and since it was such a nice day we hung our laundry out to dry. Later on I went to a couple stores with my Thing1 to look for heat shields for our grill. Thing2, Mom, and Dad stayed home. Do you know how hard it is to find heat shields? It ends up we have to order them. It was all worth it, though. We had steak, rice, and qrilled vegetables for dinner, and it was really good! Tomorrow morning is going to be difficult though. We deliver newspapers, and tomorrow my mother and I have to get up at 2:30 am to go get and deliver them. Hopefully they won't be late, I need to help in Children's Church tomorrw. Well, that about summs up my day so I will wrap this up.
In Christ,
Molly

A few of my favorite things...

Hi there!
You know the best thing to have for breakfast?

Cold Pizza. Not exactly the most nutritional, but definitely the best.

While I'm on the subject of favorites, let's continue. The best kind of day is a

clear summer sky with wisps of clouds. The best location is out in the

middle of nowhere wwhere there's only God, you, and the beauty God gave us to enjoy. The best feeling? When you're out in the middle of nowhere on a clear summer day and you know God is there and He cares for us. That He forgives us nomatter how much we mess up. My older brother goes to college at VMI, and when we went to pick him up yesterday we stayed for the parade. It looked wonderful, as perfect as it could get. Afterwards, however, when we were in the car going home he told us that they had made many mistakes. To a regular eye, you could probably never tell, but the drill seargent could. God is like that drill seargant. People only see the outside, but God sees in our hearts, and even though people might not know the mistakes we make, they're still there and God sees them. But God forgives them, and that, is the best gift of all.

Molly

The last post of the day

Hi there,

This is the last thing I'm going to post today. From now on I'll probably only write once a day unless I add little things I've written. Like this poem:
The End of the Day
The day is done,
The end is near,
The night has come,
We need not fear,
God in heaven,
Up above,
Is looking down,
In endless love,
And sends His angels,
Down here below,
To sing a lullaby,
So we might know,
That God above,
Is always here,
He hears our prayers,
And is always near.
In Christ, Molly

Exciting Things

Yay!
My older brother, Thing1, is coming home from
college for the week-end! I miss him alot sometimes.
Thing1 needs a break, he's been working hard since spring break.

Hello there...

Well hello, chaps and chapesses.

I am Orion Wittifrid, as my owner has already so graciously introduced me. I am well schooled and come from a long line of distinguished English cats. *Clears throat* Exscuse me. It must have been that falcon I ate for breakfast. Us Wittifrids are proficient in the ancient art of hunting you know. Why are we so good at it, you ask? It might be our amazing speed, or perhaps our abounding strength... Anyway, must go. It's time for tea.

Ta-ta,

Orion Wittifrid

My first post(Yay!)

Hello!

This is my blog, and I will warn you straight away that my cat and I (that would be Orion) can be very imaginative at times. I write alot of poems and short stories, so don't be surprised if you see them on here. We can also be very random, and rambling is just what we do. Orion is a very privileged cat, so he will also have posts on my blog. With a little help from me, of course. We hope you have a nice day, and enjoy my blog!

In Christ,

Molly
